SATURDAY DECEMBER 12th 2009 @ESTRAGON – Via Stalingrado 83 – BOLOGNA (ITALY)

On Sunday, 22nd of December 2002, Joe Strummer died at his home in Somerset. He was the voice, the soul, the political conscience of the Clash, the greatest rebel rock band of all time. Joe Strummer, like few other rock musicians, understood the social function of the music, his capacity to express a popular language, to become an extraordinary communicative vehicle for the young people.

His life remains an enduring legacy of radicalism, defiance, and resistance. For these reasons he’ll never be forgotten.

Following the great success of the previous year, The Italian Tribute To Joe Strummer returns with the same characteristic of benefit concert, with more bands and more Clash’s song to play. The tribute takes place again in Bologna, the town in which The Clash had their first Italian concert on June 1st 1980.

On the Estragon stage we are going to listen to :

BULLET PROOF

CANTINIERO

CONTROLLO TOTALE

FCR ROCKERS ALL STARS

REDSKA

STATUTO

STRIKE

TALCO

THE SPAGHETTI ORCHESTRA (The Walker Project)

TREMENDE

WETDOGS

Rude Boy star Ray Gange will be the special guest of this edition, with his Dj Set.

The Italian Tribute to Joe Strummer 2009 will be full of music but not only. There will be space for different forms of artistic expression. Beginning with performance of action painting artist Giuliano del Sorbo (http://www.giulianodelsorbo.it), continuing with the presentation of the book “I wanna Riot” with author Luca Frazzi , with a reading on the Clash lyrics by Andrea Merendelli (author and director of Clash To Me). The poster of the event is made by Johnny Grieco.

The 2009 edition will also pay tribute to the experience of the anti-racist label 2 Tone Records (really loved by Joe Strummer) in the year of his 30th anniversary (1979-2009).

From 4 PM opening with a DJ set Clash oriented, from 6.00 PM beginning of the concert.

Admission : 13 Euro plus a gadget of the Tribute

Also for this year the proceeds will be donated to Strummerville, the association founded by the family and Joe Strummer’s closest friends.

We are really waiting for you. The organizer : http://www.radioclash.ithttp://www.punkadeka.it

So if you\'re in Chicago head up to Delilah\'s...... have a few drinks for Joe.

I also spin punk & dub on Monday nights (dj\'s rotate)

Chicago Calling VI - Just Another Very Special Clash Christmas featuring...

London Calling (The Clash Tribute)
with All Mods Conned (The Jam Tribute)

plus special guests:
Frankie Hillel (Heavy Manners), Jeff Neville (The Midnight Shows), Tom Valenzano (ex-Loomis, Red Plastic Buddha), and members of Who\'s This Mary?, Skapone, The BuckStops, MegaSuperUltra, Janesville and Midnight Shows. Please note/welcome our new "Joe" aka "Black Market Chris" on voice and Telecaster.

London Calling of Chicago have performed many benefit shows and have contributed to Strummerville and Future Forests. They are also featured on the recent release "The Sandinista Project."

It is highly recommended that you purchase tickets in advance via the Schubas website. This event has sold out quickly for the last 4 years. Good for the cause but not so nice for those who set out and get turned away at the door. Many nice folks could not get in last year. We\'d hate for that to happen to any of you.
